All Souls’ Day, circa 2020.
It was the day before an election that might have dictated whether the United States would become a legit autocracy.
The whole world held its breath.
An easy primer in terms of whether Biden would triumph over That Guy: Michigan, Wisconsin, Pennsylvania, or Georgia. If Biden won two of those, he would likely become president. If he lost all of them, America was in trouble. Stupid Electoral College horseshit. The Democrats also wanted to flip the Senate blue so they’d have an easier time passing legislation for a new Democrat executive.
Me, I was preoccupied with the possibility no matter who won on that Tuesday night, regardless of the outcome, there might have been violence in the streets. If That Guy won, lefties might’ve marched in protest of another four years of pseudo-fascism. If Biden won, righties may have marched in protest of what they’d say was a rigged contest. That Guy and his team had already laid the groundwork for such an option.
