Well, I was putting this off. There’s no getting around it. There’s no sidestepping this bogey, as it’s a primary source of what’s ailing us Americans, from our anti-masking stances to our implicit biases in systemic racism, our proclivities toward nationalism, tribalism, absolutism, unwarranted exceptionalism, and our embracing of individual ambitions over community.

Anti-intellectualism is a root pathology shaping all of our American maladies.
