After his recovery from Covid, That Guy’s administration and medical teams continued to dodge repeated queries from the press regarding the frequency and results of his supposed daily Covid tests. The media badgered his people in order to figure out whether he was positive the day of the first presidential debate, and whether he’d been a potential super spreader, as it was known he showed up late to the debate and was given an honor system pass on testing before hitting the stage. It’s possible he either wasn’t testing at all, or knew he was positive but didn’t want to back out of the debate.
He refused the standard, post-diagnostic 14-day quarantine. He was back hosting a campaign event within 5 days of returning to the White House. The Presidential Debate Commission changed the upcoming second debate between That Guy and Biden to a virtual one, upon which That Guy promptly refused participation, perhaps using the action as an excuse to dodge the second mano y mano because he performed so poorly in the first. It was also possible he couldn’t stand the idea of a virtual moderator remotely hitting a mute button if he started pulling the same shit he did at the first debate. Even That Guy knew his most formidable weapon at his disposal was his mouth.
