Meanwhile, at the tail end of September (boy, lots happened in September 2020), the first of three presidential debates hit the stage in Cleveland. In U.S. politics, the first debate is often seen as the one that really matters, the one that most Americans will tune into. It was that night that would show whether Biden would keep his cool or whether That Guy was gonna melt down without Teleprompters to assist him.
I actually experienced some trepidation that evening, theretofore unknown to me concerning presidential debates. I didn’t normally put much stock in them. I tended to focus the vetting of candidates through pen and paper research, listening to measured analysis from sources I trusted, as well as how said candidates purported themselves in relating to other human beings.
